The Story

The USAID Kizazi Hodari (Brave Generation) Northeastern Zone project has empowered dozens of young people to become entrepreneurs through vocational education training programs. The out-of-school adolescents are enrolled in vocational courses at the Vocational Education Training Authority (VETA), with training provided in areas such as tailoring, welding, and food production.

After completing their courses, the project supported graduates with business startup kits to help them establish income-generating activities (IGAs). Ezekiel Peter, a welding graduate from VETA Nyakato, is one of the adolescent benefited from the project. Ezekiel now operates a successful welding business in Geita and has employed two additional youths to work in his shop. “The vocational training I received has changed my life,” said Ezekiel. “With the support of the USAID Kizazi Hodari project, I’ve been able to start my own business and provide for my family.” Ezekiel can now provide for his family and plans to expand his business to another growing town of Katoro in Geita Region.
