June 26-27, 2024, Shinyanga and Morogoro, Tanzania – The USAID Kizazi Hodari (Brave Generation) Northeastern Zone Project, in collaboration with the President’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), successfully hosted a two-day Data Summit. The event, held concurrently in Shinyanga and Morogoro, brought together key stakeholders to review and discuss crucial data related to pediatric HIV case finding, treatment, and prevention efforts.
The summit aimed to increase the use of platforms for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) in pediatric HIV case finding, linkage to treatment, and viral suppression. It also sought to expand access to HIV prevention, violence prevention, and response services for OVC and youth. Additionally, the event focused on improving the socio-economic capacity of at-risk young women and OVC caregivers.
The summit provided a vital platform for stakeholders to share best practices, lessons learned, and to strategize on the effective use of data for decision-making. Participants included representatives from project implementers, clinical partners, regional and local government authorities, and key ministry officials. Throughout the event, a comprehensive analysis of program performance data was conducted, including MVC_MIS data, OVC_SERV, OVC_HIVSTAT, and other relevant metrics.
Discussions at the summit centered on data quality, reporting, and the development of improvement plans. Key stakeholders presented successful strategies and addressed challenges in data management and service delivery. The event featured an in-depth performance review, highlighting areas for improvement and celebrating successful initiatives.
Held in Shinyanga and Morogoro, the summit encompassed regions such as Mwanza, Mara, Geita, Singida, Dodoma, Tanga, Arusha, Kilimanjaro, and Manyara. TThe gathering was essential for verifying and improving the accuracy and completeness of reported data. Enhanced planning and decision-making processes, informed by reliable data, were key outcomes of the summit. The event also sought to strengthen coordination among stakeholders, supporting HIV epidemic control and improving social welfare services.
